Terms of Use
These Terms govern the NoteBound iOS app, website, browser reader, and related services operated by Chreia Labs, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using NoteBound, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information.
1. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 13, meet any higher minimum age required by applicable law, and have legal capacity to accept these Terms. If you are under the age of legal majority, a parent or guardian must agree where required.
Sign in using email and password, Apple, or Google. Verifying an email for an invited-only browser link creates or signs in to an account; anyone-with-the-link access does not require one. Keep credentials secure and contact support@notebound.us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for your use of the service.
2. The service and app license
NoteBound lets you write and organize pages, sync content, connect with people, send messages and files, share pages, and create view-only browser links. Plus offers additional features and limits as described at purchase.
The iOS application is licensed under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), unless a separate custom license is presented through the App Store. These Terms govern the related NoteBound services. Apple is not a party to these service Terms; Chreia Labs, LLC is responsible for NoteBound support.
3. Your content
You retain ownership of your pages, messages, photos, and other content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, copy, sync, transmit, display, and process that content to operate NoteBound, honor sharing choices, and preserve authorized recipient content and conversation history as described below. This does not transfer ownership to us.
You must have the rights and permissions to store and share your content, including others’ personal information. Receiving another user’s content does not grant broader intellectual property rights.
Page attachment files are currently local; page syncing and browser sharing do not upload them. Images embedded in synced content can appear to authorized recipients. Photos and files sent in chat upload to cloud storage. Profile photos use public image URLs.
Keep independent backups of important content. Portable page exports include available local attachments and preserved documents; unavailable files are listed. Page exports do not include chat history. Exports and downloads saved or sent outside NoteBound are under your control.
4. Sharing and conversations
You control recipients and permissions. In-app sharing can include connected descendant pages, subject to exclusions. Edit permission lets recipients change authorized content. Legacy selected-block permissions remain limited to their selected scope unless explicitly replaced.
Accepted connections enable messaging and group additions. Group managers control membership and permissions. New members see messages sent after joining. Removal ends conversation access but does not automatically revoke pages already saved to a Notebook; the owner can separately revoke page access.
Browser links are view-only. Anyone-with-the-link access permits any URL holder to read authorized content, including people it is forwarded to. Invited-only links require a confirmed invited email. Whole-page links include future content and reachable nested pages belonging to the same owner. Selected links include selected blocks and separately selected nested content; new blocks stay private, while edits inside selected blocks remain shared.
Readers see current synced content. Disabling a link, changing scope, or removing an invited email affects future reads. Trashing the original page permanently disables its browser links even if restored. Browser and in-app permissions are separate.
Revocation, group removal, and account deletion cannot erase screenshots, downloads, exports, or copies outside NoteBound. Pages and messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Share only content you intend recipients to receive.
5. NoteBound Plus subscriptions
Plus is optional and offered through Apple In-App Purchase as a monthly or yearly auto-renewable subscription. Before confirmation, the purchase screen shows the applicable price, currency, billing period, features, and any trial or offer. Prices may vary by country and taxes.
- Apple charges your Apple Account at confirmation, subject to any displayed trial or offer.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges for renewal within 24 hours before that period ends.
- Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions or Apple’s subscription settings. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the paid period.
- Trial eligibility, duration, renewal price, and loss of unused trial time on purchase follow the displayed offer and Apple’s terms.
- Use Restore Purchases in NoteBound to restore eligible purchases. Apple handles payments and refunds under its policies and applicable law; see Apple’s refund request service.
Deleting the app, signing out, or deleting your NoteBound account does not cancel your Apple subscription. Cancel separately with Apple to stop renewal. Price changes follow Apple’s notice and consent requirements and applicable law. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
6. Acceptable use and concerns
Do not use NoteBound to:
- Share unlawful, infringing, exploitative, or sexually abusive content, including any sexual exploitation of children.
- Threaten, harass, bully, impersonate, target people with hateful conduct, or disclose private information without authorization.
- Send spam, scams, malware, or abusive messages.
- Access others’ accounts or unshared content, bypass permissions or plan limits, or disrupt the service.
Report abuse, unlawful content, or intellectual property concerns to support@notebound.us with enough information to identify the issue. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes. We may investigate, remove content, or restrict or terminate access for violations, security threats, or legal requirements, subject to applicable law. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to contact support about the decision.
7. Account deletion and retained history
Delete your account from Profile → Delete account or contact support for assistance. Deletion removes your sign-in account, settings, private pages, owned browser links, and files no longer needed, and clears the account’s working data and session on the device completing deletion.
Pages recipients explicitly saved to their Notebooks and their authorized descendant content, and conversation history, remain available to those people. Retained history includes messages, photos, files, names, and profile photos. These records use an identity that cannot sign in and are removed when no remaining recipient or participant needs them. The license in Section 3 continues only as necessary for this retention and other lawful obligations. See our Privacy Policy.
Deletion does not erase copies on other devices or outside NoteBound and does not cancel an Apple subscription. Export important pages and manage your subscription before deletion.
8. Availability
We may maintain, update, or change NoteBound. Outages, network problems, and circumstances outside our control may interrupt service. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or recovery of content stored only on a lost device. Changes to paid services remain subject to purchase terms and applicable consumer law.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To that extent, Chreia Labs, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, including lost profits or data.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Plus in the twelve months before the claim or twenty-five U.S. dollars ($25). These exclusions and limits do not apply where prohibited, including to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted. Mandatory consumer rights, guarantees, and remedies remain intact.
10. Changes and applicable law
Revised Terms appear at notebound.us/terms with an updated effective date. Material changes receive additional notice or consent where required. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance only to the extent permitted by law.
These Terms are subject to applicable United States law and mandatory privacy or consumer protections in your place of residence. Nothing here removes rights or court access guaranteed by applicable law.
